2009 was a record-breaking year for the box office with total box office finishing at $10.6 billion, up 10% from 2008 ($9.63 billion). 2010 is setting records as well - Alice in Wonderland (3-D) grossed a staggering $116 million in its first weekend which was the best opening for a release in the month of March and the biggest opening weekend for a 3-D movie of all time. Other favorites like How to Train Your Dragon (3-D), Date Night and Clash of the Titans have created excitement so far this year amongst moviegoers...and this is only the beginning.
Long-awaited sequels, such as Iron Man 2 and Sex in the City 2, will be hitting the big screen this spring. Both, keeping their plots a secret until opening night, are sure to break box office records similar to their original releases which were a whopping $471 million combined!
As the summer rolls around, there's plenty to get excited about. Twilight: Eclipse, the third installment of the series, is set to be released in June with the anticipation of being one of the top grossing movies of the year (last year's Twilight: New Moon posted the third best opening weekend of all time!). Other feature films such as Toy Story 3, The Karate Kid and The A-Team will surely make waves this summer at the box office as well.
The peak of the movie season is fast approaching and this year's line-up is sizzling...be a part of something big with Screenvision through cinema advertising!
